Graphic arts and painting

The collections of graphic arts and painting are extensive. The collection of prints contains material in different techniques from the 17th century to present day. Here you can find pictures of artists and of performances, theatre buildings, stage costumes and set designs.

The collection of drawings contains caricatures and role portraits, mainly from late 19th century to the mid 20th century.

The collection of paintings includes a number of works by Pehr Hilleström showing performances at the Royal Theatre during the 18th century. The collection also holds portraits of artists such as the French actor Monvel (1745-1812) who during the late 18th century served as teacher for the Swedish actors later to form the first ensemble at the Royal Theatre.
